The four cornerstones of player development

FCB helps children become better players by building up four cornerstones:

MENTAL Losing isn't easy. Heads drop, confidence evaporates and kids sometimes blame each other. So FCB actively builds each child's self-esteem and confidence with equal time on the pitch, weekly awards and positive feedback. We encourage real teamwork, support each other and play right to the final whistle. We win together and lose together.

PHYSICAL Other clubs select the biggest kids. FCB takes everyone but works hard on their fitness and controlled aggression. We can't win every ball in the air, but players that can run faster and tackle harder are a match for lumbering opponents.

TACTICAL Kids need to understand the game and make their own decisions (and their own mistakes). We explain everything clearly, try to keep tactics simple, and encourage good habits. We use real games to practice positional play and get players to analyse their own and the team's performance.

TECHNICAL English football's downfall. So FCB uses the acclaimed Coerver method, devised by visionary Dutch coach Wiel Coerver. Ball mastery underpins the Coerver pyramid of technical development that encourages beautiful, skilful, attacking play. With practice, our professional coaches can help any child to achieve a high technical standard.
