FC Bluestar U6s Runners Up in tournament
Stockport Junior Blues Mini Tournament
We tooka aquad of 8 players to Brinnington Park on Saturday 12th July to take part in the Stockport Junior Blues mini tournament.
The team of Thomas, Cameron, Joe, Ryan, Milan, Kasim, Josh and debutant Eddie were kitted out in their new Adidas team kit and were all raring to go.
The format was a 6 aside competition of 5 minute games playing all the other teams with the top two teams playing a final for a nice big trophy.
We decided that we would play a set team per game with 2 players sitting out each time.
Our first game was against SJB South. Cameron and Ryan sat out, Kasim went in goal and Thomas captained the side. In a hard fought game, we emerged with a 1-0 victory with the goal scored by Joe. The team battled hard all over the pitch with Kasim in goal not being called upon to make a single save.
The second game was against Great Moor. Thomas and Joe sat out, Josh went in goal and Milan captained the team. Another close game saw us again win 1-0 with the goal scored by Cameron. Once more, a solid defensive display saw Great moor restricted to very few chances.
Our third game was against Cheadle and Gatley and this proved to be a much more tense affair. Kasim and Eddie sat out, Ryan went in goal and Josh captained. Despite taking an early lead with a great poachers goal from Thomas accompanied by an exuberant goal celebration, Cheadle and Gatley came hard at us and created more chances than in the 2 previous games combined with their closest chance being a rasping shot which hit the post. The boys battled on to secure a third consecutive 1-0 win.
Ahead of our fourth game against SJB North, we realised that they were the only team that could stop us reaching the final. Leaving aside all my normal principles, we kept Milan on the pitch instaed of him sitting his turn out alongside Josh. Cameron went in goal and Kasim captained the team. As usual, we found ourselves in the midst of a right battle with North. However our boys were playing with great confidence and soon took a 1-0 lead from Joe. We then set about defending like demons whilst trying to get a second goal to settle the nerves. In the end the 1 goal was enough to secure our place in the final.
As our last league game was aginst Spuley Hey who were also through to the final it was decided to make the game the final.
As it was a 10 minute game, we decided to operate subs in this game and Milan and Ryan started on ths sidelines. After our first sub on 2 minutes we were comfortable against a big talented Spurley team feilding 2 academy players. The deadlock was broken after 3 minuted when we conceded our first goal of the day. it had to be something special and it was with the Spurley defender hitting a shot from the half way line that was still on the up as it hit the back of the net.
The boys were not disheartened and continued to battle away with Milan driving forward and creating chances but it was not to be. Spurley scored two more good goals and we were well beaten by a very good side.
All of the boys received a medal at the end and got a great round of applause from all of the parents
They all played their hearts out and were fantastic. However,I would like to make special mention of Milan who was awesome throughout the whole of the tournament.
It was a tremendous effort from a team showing a huge amount of promise. Well done to all of the boys and a big thank you to all of the parents for your support.

Stockport Junior Blues V FC Bluestar U6s
FC Bluestar under 6 team played away to stockport Junior Blues on Sunday 6th July.
The team of 6 made up of Cameron and Joe, Thomas Milan, Josh and a guest apearance by Grace played a number of games against SJB North and South.
In the first game, despite their inexperience of playing to gether, the team put in an extremel strong peformance and overcame the South team 7-0.
Not used to seeing teams win so comprehensively, I am afraid I am unable to give you the scorers.
Suffice to say that all of the players battled hard with Milan and Joe particularly strong up front.
The second game was much tighter with the North team being made up fo the same boys we played at Powerleague.
The team however had its tail up and soon took a 2-0 lead. nort however were a different proposition and fought back strongly to secure a 2-2 draw. A number of minutes seemed to vanish and the game finished all square.
The third game was against south again and despitegoing 1-0 down the team rallied to a battling 2-1 victory.
Having no subs, all of the boys and girls battled their socks off and all the parents present were really proud of them. For a first time on grass, everybody did so well and played together both individually and as a team.

Powerleague 31st May 2008
On a warm sunny Saturday morning, FCB's youngest ever team played their first ever match in a friendly against Stockport Junior Blues.
The team was made up of Josh, Cameron and Joe,Thomas, Kasim and Ryan with Patrick K in attendance as warm up coach and referee.
The boys played a series of 4 ten minute games against the Junior Blues who were playing their fifth game together.
All the games were extremely competitive but played in a friendly manner. All of the boys worked their socks off as evidenced by the red faces at the end of the hour. Every single one of the boys was a credit to themselves and to the team and along with all of the parents, I am absolutely proud of every one of you.
In terms of the games, we lost the first game 2 - 0, and the second game 1 - 0. In the third game we won 2 -0 with the goals coming from Cameron and in the fourth game, it was 0 - 0 with 9 minutes 55 seconds on the clock when the Junior Blues scored to take the game 1 - 0.
For most of the boys, it was their first ever competitive game and we are likely to come up against the Junior Blues next season so today was a great chance to find out what it is like to play against other teams.
All in all, I think we did pretty well!!!!
A big thank you to all the boys who attended and of course to the parents whose support is greatly appreciated. We will be organising more friendlies and hopefully we will be able to count on your support again.
Finally a big thank you to Patrick for refereeing.
